SAN DIEGO – The City of San Diego and the Department of Cultural Affairs are inviting the public to attend the inauguration of Paola Capó-García as the city’s newest Poet Laureate for 2025-2027. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the San Diego Central Library’s Shiley Special Events Suite, located at 330 Park Avenue.

This celebratory evening will feature poetry readings and a conversation facilitated by Julia Dixon Evans of KPBS. The program will also include appearances by former Poets Laureate Jason Magabo Perez (2022-2024) and Ron Salisbury (2020-2021), who will join Paola Capó-García in a discussion on poetry and its impact on the community.

Paola Capó-García becomes the third Poet Laureate of San Diego, following the distinguished terms of her predecessors. The Poet Laureate program highlights the city’s dedication to recognizing and uplifting literary arts.
