Apex High Student Earns German Study Trip Scholarship
Apex High student Era McNeely earned a gold medal on the National German Exam in December, placing her in the 96th percentile. The American Association of Teachers of German selected her as one of 37 recipients of a scholarship for a three‐week study trip to Germany. During the first two weeks of the trip, she will live with a host family and attend school, and during the final week she will visit cities including Bonn and Berlin.
This is the first time in 18 years that an Apex High student has been honored in this way. McNeely also placed third in the 2025 statewide German Verb Conjugation Bee held in Winston-Salem. She has stated her dedication to becoming a German teacher.
