The City of Spartanburg, South Carolina, said its offices will be closed today in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

The city said solid waste collection will run on a regular schedule.

The city also urged residents to attend the Juneteenth Celebration Week Block Party tonight from 6 PM to 10 PM on S Daniel Morgan Ave., across from Fifth Third Park.

The City of Spartanburg will host a Juneteenth Block Party in downtown Spartanburg at 6 PM today on South Daniel Morgan Avenue. The event will include live music, food trucks, vendors, and free parking at the stadium garage.

District Six schools and offices in Spartanburg will close on Thursday, June 18, 2026, for Juneteenth. The district said the holiday is observed on the nearest business day.

Spartanburg officers volunteer on Habitat home siding

Spartanburg Police officers and civilian employees helped install siding on a home being built with Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg on Bethlehem Drive in the Highland community. The home is expected to be completed by the end of July.

Suspect Arrested After Domestic Dispute, K-9 Attack

Spartanburg police said officers responded to a domestic violence-related dispute on June 10 and the suspect fled in a white pickup truck. A K-9 was injured during the arrest, and the suspect was later taken into custody after a pursuit ended with a PIT maneuver.

University of South Carolina Upstate marked Juneteenth with a message honoring freedom, resilience, strength, and perseverance. The university posted Happy Juneteenth to celebrate the holiday.
