Spartanburg to Hold Juneteenth Block Party Tonight
The City of Spartanburg announced that its Juneteenth Block Party is scheduled for 6 PM today in Downtown Spartanburg on South Daniel Morgan Avenue.
The city said the celebration will feature live music with Chris Ceej Jefferson and DJ Traxxondekk. The event will also include food trucks and vendors.
The city encouraged families and friends to attend as part of its Juneteenth Celebration Weekend. It also said free parking will be available at the stadium garage.

Spartanburg city offices close for Juneteenth holiday
Spartanburg City Offices will be closed today to observe the Juneteenth holiday. Solid waste collection will run on a regular schedule, and a Juneteenth Celebration Week Block Party is set for 6 PM to 10 PM on S Daniel Morgan Ave.

The Spartanburg Fire Department said Fire Commander Thomas “Tom” Ivey died on June 11, 2026, after a long illness. The department said he served for more than two decades and continued fire service work after retirement.

Spartanburg officers volunteer on Habitat home siding
Spartanburg Police officers and civilian employees helped install siding on a home being built with Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg on Bethlehem Drive in the Highland community. The home is expected to be completed by the end of July.

Suspect Arrested After Domestic Dispute, K-9 Attack
Spartanburg police said officers responded to a domestic violence-related dispute on June 10 and the suspect fled in a white pickup truck. A K-9 was injured during the arrest, and the suspect was later taken into custody after a pursuit ended with a PIT maneuver.
