Spartanburg officers volunteer on Habitat home siding

Spartanburg Police said its officers and civilian employees traded uniforms and office work for siding tools while partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg on a new home under construction on Bethlehem Drive in the Highland community.

The department said the team spent Saturday morning installing siding despite the summer heat. It said the house is expected to be completed by the end of July and will be a home for a local family of four.

Spartanburg Police said Sgt. Patin met and spoke with the future homeowner, who shared that she was grateful and excited to see progress being made on her family’s future home.

The department said the project is part of continued investment taking place in Highland, with four additional homes planned for construction in the neighborhood.

Spartanburg Police said Habitat for Humanity is also looking for volunteers and that people interested in upcoming opportunities should contact Alexis Williams.
